20131115 Victorian Dinner 10715th November 2013 saw more than 50 former Victorians from all walks of life came together for an evening of get-together and rekindling of old ties.

Sons of Victoria present included Mr S R Nathan, Alex Yam, Teo Ser Luck, Ng Yat Chung, Kesavan Soon, Abbas Abu Amin, Daniel Yun and Michael Tay. We were also honoured to have the presence of Mr Andrew Lim, Principal of Victoria School; Mr Chan Poh Meng and Ms Ek Soo Ben, respectively out-going and in-coming Principals of Victoria Junior College; and current and former teachers.

It was a homecoming of sorts where diners were treated to an eight course Halal, Non-Halal and Vegetarian dinner prepared by the creative culinary team from Jia Wei Chinese Restaurant at Grand Mercure Roxy Hotel. Guests were also treated to a free flow of 18 years Chivas Regal Whisky, sponsored by Mr Louis Lim, red & white wines from Goodeal Marketing Pte Ltd.

“The response was overwhelming and I am glad to see such a great turnout!  I thank all guests for making time to join in this event and be a part of history in the making.  Not forgetting my dynamic of committee comprising Loke Swee Leong, Michael Ong and Chua Eng Keat, thank you brothers!  These guys are marvellous and without them, this event would not have ticked like clockwork” said Christopher Tay, Organising Chairman for this event.

Mr Tan Jee Ming, President of the OVA added, ” As this is our first get-together, we hope to turn this into a regular event with the aim of creating greater mileage and awareness for our alumni.”

No Victorian event is complete without singing our Victoria Anthem. When the anthem was sung, everyone in the house stood upright, and yes, we continue to keep our flag unfurled.

Once a Victorian, Always a Victorian
