Come Friday, 15 July 2011, alumni and students of Victoria School (VS) and Victoria Junior College (VJC) will join hands for the first time in a 24-hour non-stop carwash, to celebrate the school’s 135th anniversary this year. They have set an ambitious target to wash 1,350 vehicles in this round-the-clock event, which takes place as part of a longstanding VS tradition – The Victoria Challenge – where, once every four years, students continuously perform an activity and complete it within 24 hours. The car wash is open from 8am on Friday, 15 July 2011, to 8am on Saturday, 16 July 2011. The wash is also open to bicycles. Each wash is priced at $10. Proceeds will go to the Victoria School GPS Fund and the Zion Home for the Aged.

  • "went to victoria school this evening with my family, even though dripping rain….. was reminded by neighbour whose daughter studying in vjc, of the 24 hr car wash….. this was part of the victoria challenge, an event to raise funds for charity and fund the 135th gala dinner celebrations…… got my car washed there for $10.00.. happy to have done my part…..inspite of the rain, plenty of cars and volunteers. including students, teachers, parents and old boys…. got my car washed in fact by some old boys…. the press was there when my car was being washed…….. while waiting, went to visit the various other activities…. some eager secondary one boys hijacked me and asked me to buy their 5 small cup cakes for $5.00…. they were still hot, because their parents were somewhere in one of the class rooms making the cup cakes for sale…. it was part of their class contribution for the challenge…. talked to them and asked questions before buying from them…… reminded me of my enthusiasm during my school days …. how to refuse them?

  • "many parents and old boys mingling around various premises…. returned to my car to see already washed… the old boy handling it, asked me if i wish to volunteer for any other victorian challenge events… told them i too old and have done my part with the car wash, cup cakes, peach garden vouchers, the gala dinner…. happy to contribute in other ways……
seems like they need plenty of help and more money contributions. with their unwavering commitment and passion, i am sure they'll make it….. i part with another ten before i left….. told my wife i feel good, because i did something wonderful… and it is givng back to my roots….. glad that my children witness my action too….."
