According to attd ST rpt of July 1988, Mr Philip Moon, together with another expat teacher, Mr Paul O'Shea, tried to revive rubgy in VS, by mustering an under 14 team to take part in the national schools' championships. The team got a bashing from St Andrew's Sch. And Mr Moon, the teacher in charge, expressed hope that the defeat would not have an adverse effect on the morale of the team, which had been training for only eight weeks…… (to continue)

Perhaps, time for VS to consider putting back rugby on our CCA programme and work towards fulfilling what Mr Moon and Mr O'Shea had tried, during their days, to revive a sports, which VS was once a powerhouse, up to the 1970s.
In today's competitive school sports environment, schools' rugby has been confined to a few schools with the rest just to make up the numbers in the competition. And in order to continue playing rugby, these few schools have dropped football from their list of CCAs for more than 20 years. Some managed to revive football but their football teams are very weak.
You can find Mdm Cheng on fb: Foong Joon Cheng
Correct spelling should be Foong, not Fong.
She was my Lower Sec Form Teacher and teacher in charge of NPCC.
Hello there OVA,
Referring to your post "Find the Missing Teachers" on 20 July 2011 by Sanjay, I am the offspring of Tan Cher Keow and Tan Siew Tee. To date, they are married to each for almost 25 years already.
I happen to be googling my Dad's name online during my leisure time and stumble upon this blog post. VS had left very deep and fond memories for the both of them. Thank you very much for remembering my parents all these years!! :):):)
Sincerely,
Serene

Ms Leong is still teaching mathematics in Catholic High School.:)
Is this for VJC as well… does anyone know what happened to Mr. John Hunt who taught Literature?
Mr Chong was my Geography teacher, and Mr Moon was my English Literature teacher. I am grateful for the legacy they have left behind in their teaching service.
