What a great response, the photos tell them all!
Was this the best coming home of Old Victorians, coincided with the venue switching to the hallowed grounds of VS itself?
Thank you Abang oldvic…
Thank you Victorians & Guests for participating in the VSC 2010.
Somehow or rather, most of us knew that it’s good to catch up with friends that grew up with you through the tumultuos growing up years…
And from what i hear from the younger Victorians, our days at Tyrwhitt, their days at Kallang and even the days at Siglap are not much different… yes, the surroundings ARE different, but you can feel that the spirit is, without a doubt the same…
Fellow Victorians who voluntarily gave their time, without being asked, to help with the 'pre and post event' is something worth mentioning… coming from work to be at VS at 5pm till 8pm on Friday and after the event on Saturday, till 6pm.
BUT all of this can only be termed successful if each & everyone of us enjoyed it. For winning the games are not important but the gathering of 250 plus Victorians from different decades & centuries, of all ages & 'sizes', especially since it's at home, is the focal point of it all…
What about a girls' competition next time? After all, VJC girls have been champions 4 times and runner-up once in the last 5 years in the Schools A Division.
Hi FootballGal…
Salute to VJ girls… k, will seriously consider your proposal for next year VSC and also the Veterans above 45's…
But do need help to relay it to ALL the VJ ladies…

Up to the early 1960s. there was a Marshall Shield football competitions involving the various old boys associations in Singapore. Apparently the trophy was donated by the former Chief Minister, the late Mr David Marshall.

In the attd ST report in 1961, the lineup of the OVA players who were scheduled to meet their counterparts from Bartlely Sec Sch in a Marshall Shield match was announced. It could be seen from the list that the names included a Malaya Cup star of the time, Wee Seng Pah, and others who were later to play a key role in Singapore football administration, such as Abbas, the FAS President and the late Charlie Chan, a Singapoe national team manager.

In the pre war era, there was an oustanding VS sportman, Sharif Madon who was the champion athlete of the school from 1938 to 1940 and represented the school in four other major sports. He later became a stalwart of the Malaya Cup football team of Singapore.
