RAFFLES Institution Junior College swept both the boys and girls A division national cross-country titles on Wednesday at the Temasek Polytechnic’s stadium in Bedok.
Having moved from last year’s venue at the Botanic Gardens to Bedok Reservoir for the first time, the competition welcomed 1,557 students across the A, B and C divisions.
Last year’s runner-up in the girls division, Cedar Girls, went one better this year, clinching the team title with 45 points, six better than Methodist Girls’ School in second place. Meanwhile, CHIJ St Nicholas Girls’ School took the C division title.
Victoria School, last year’s winner in the boys B division, lost their title to Chinese High School this time around. They made up for the failure to retain their title this year by claiming the C division title instead.
Though St Joseph’s Institution failed to finish inside the top-five for the team category, it managed to take the top individual awards, with its runners Karthic Harish and Sumanthran Selvarajo taking first place in the C and B division respectively.

actually we lost to catholic high school, not chinese high school. tho we lost by 2 points in the b div.. we won by 23 points in the c div. :))
victorians will always be victorians; the best.
replying to "why like that?" by VJCian,
1. it is by no easy feat to get into National Top 4 every year. especially with the participation of Sports School and the much better funded independent/IP schools. remember there's only 1 winner in any competition. to emerge champion or top 4 placing in a sports that are well represented by numerous school is no easy, as compared to Rugby/Judo/Gymnastics.
2. VS lost the B title by mere 2 points and we were even considered underdogs to clinch the 1st runner up position. BTW VJC wasn't even mentioned cos RJC took a clean sweep of both girls and boys easily by a convincing margin. For instance, VJC top boy came in individual 3rd. RJC came in 1st/2nd/4th/5th postions.
congrats to the C boys who will now have to take up the challenge as they move into B Div.
B team, a salute from all alumni for the fight you have put in espcially witnessing it for myself the struggle and pain you guys went thru during the last 400m… indeed NIL SINE LABORE…
To Keep Her Flag Unfurl
Win or lose, the boys did their best. And when VS boys do their best, there's only one outcome : Winning.
Congrats boys. Nil Sine Labore always.
