Victorians’ Day – Back To School

As part of the effort of the Old Victorians’ Association to bring graduates from Victoria School & Victoria Junior College to come back to their alma mater, we have designated every 1st Sat of March as Victorians’ Day. It’s a day where Victorians from all years will engage in games, indulge in school canteen food again and most importantly an opportunity for us to catch up with long time mates.

This year, Victorians’ Day will be on 7 March 2009 9am to 5pm. As VJC is into its 25th Anniversary celebration, the VJC alumni pro-tem committee will assist OVA to increase the activities in the campus.

Come join us for a fun filled day! Take part in our games and talks and visit our food & lifestyle stores.

This year, a series of interesting programs have been catered to Victorian individuals cum family…from games (Nintendo Wii, basketball, soccer competitions), lifestyle (exclusive NIKE B.I.R.D Golf range sale etc) and food stalls (Baguette – The Viet Inspired Deli, prata, satay etc) to talks (by Adam Khoo & more).

Take this opportunity to round up classmates or your CCA friends for a gathering, walk down the memory lane and enjoy the programs on 7 March 2009, Saturday from 0900hrs to 1700hrs.

As some programs require registration, if we do not have enough participants, we may not proceed with the event. So give us your support and sign up early before 3 March 2009.

  • the Wii games sound exciting… at least the physically not as good old "birds" can have a fair level of competition with the young, energetic, schooling Victorians…

who say above 30s are no good… challenge me… hahaha….

  • On behalf of OVA Soccer, we would like to take this Opportunity to VJC for the usage of the Field for the Victorians’ Day 9-a-Side Soccer Tournament on Saturday, 7th March.
Though, it was meant to be a quadrangular, it had to be revised with the inclusion of another, ‘all Victorian Team’, called VJO, captained by Keefe.
Frankly though, it was a little bit worrying as it started to rain at 7.15am with lightnings all around (in Woodlands that is) but amazingly, it stopped at 8.40am and with the superb drainage of the pitch, the Soccer Tournament, kicked off, at 9am sharp!
The tournament was played on a League Basis, with only the top two Teams qualifying for the Finals.

Below are the statistics of the League
    P W D L F A Pts Teams
    4 3 1 0 3 0 10 VJO
    4 1 2 1 1 1 05 VJC Staff
    4 1 1 2 3 2 04 VJC Year 1
    4 1 1 2 1 4 04 OVA Juniors
    4 0 3 1 0 1 03 OVA Seniors

Being a ‘last minute’ entry, VJO did extremely well, as they emerged Champions, when they beat VJC Staff Team, in the Finals by 2 goals, with a very notable run of NOT conceding any goals!

    Our congratulations to VJO.

In fact, our congratulations and sincerest thanks to ALL, for participating and making the 2009, Victorians’ Day, 9-a-Side Soccer Tournament, a success, which was graced by VJC Principal, Mr Chan Poh Meng as the Guest of Honour, to give away the medals.

    afternote
And amazingly, it started to rain again, AFTER, the prize giving ceremony!!!

    Regards
