Calling all Victorians.. .

It is another brand new year. It is probably also appropriate and timely to start the year with a round of drinks with some of your oldest friends.

The Old Victorians Association (OVA) will kickstart the new calendar year with a networking cocktail at Billard Bar 3rd Floor at The Legends Club at Fort Canning Hill. The session will take place between 7 pm to 9 pm. Drinks and snacks will be served at attractive bar prices.

Come join us, have a beer, shoot some pool and relive the Victorian Spirits or spirits – whichever that comes first. Bring your fellow Victorians who have gone missing if you can. Otherwise, have a great year and we’ll see you guys soon!!!

Thank you for the Wonderful Response!!

IT was supposedly just a casual networking session to kickstart the new year. No great expectations really. no great promises. No party hats. But what a night out it was.

Perhaps what was more memorable for some was we were not just networking across the social spectrum but also across time.

A relatively good turnout, the OVA Night held at Legends Fort Canning on Jan 5 saw enthusiastic Victorians coming from classes of recent years to those who hailed from as far back as 1957. Graduates of the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s were represented. That clearly captures the true purpose of the alumni movement.

Retired businessmen were dishing out advice to newly graduated professionals and even a certain politician and government official who shall remain unnamed here. Retired army colonel, retired news editor, veteran medical specialist, futures trader, grandfather, you name it.

At the end of the night, some felt obliged to thank the committee for its efforts to get connected. "Congratulations to the organizers of last evening's OVA function. It was really nice to meet so many enthusiastic Victorians. Keep the momentum going,'' Dr Abraham who was one of the earlier birds in both puntuality and classes that night and was holding court for most of the night sent to his fellow alumni the next day.

To those who supported the nightout, the committee says "Thank you very much and see you soon again for some Prata.''

    Warmest regards,
    Hiang Whai
