VICTORIANS’ DAY TO KICK OFF ON MARCH 5

Monday February 28, 2005

FROM this year, the first Saturday of March will mark an important date for all students and staff who have stepped through the gates of Victoria School and Victoria Junior College (VJC).

Victorians’ Day – to be inaugurated on March 5 – will see past and present Victorians coming together as part of a new annual homecoming tradition. It is organised by the Old Victorians’ Association (OVA), Victoria School and VJC.

Mr William Koo, a OVA council member and the originator of Victorians’ Day, said: “Now that both campuses are close together, we thought it would be nice to have a reunion where the alumni can take a look at both campuses at the same time.”

Victoria School moved to its new premises in Siglap last year, down the road from VJC at Marine Vista.

OVA president Aaron Tan said it would be “a good opportunity for the alumni” to see what was new at the schools, as the education landscape has changed so much over the years.

There will be performances at both schools from noon to 4pm by their cultural groups and alumni, and guided school tours. – Patricia Yap
